To take the Safer Homes concept to the next level from a limited selection of suburbs to explore, the version 2 website was architected from the ground up to visualise risk data for millions of addresses across the country.
ElasticSearch was used to handle complex geoqueries which are capable of displaying the detailed outline of every suburb within the visible map area, centering within the available UI area.
Google Maps heat mapping was optimised to select aggregated areas at a level of detail that could fit on screen to provide a general risk level across larger areas where the original data was at a per-address granularity.
I was responsible for liaising with the client data teams, engineering the queries and infrastructure to host the site and its data.
